Movere’s ARC (Actual Resource Consumption) capabilities are a driving force in ongoing Digital Transformation initiatives within companies looking to move to the cloud, identify optimization opportunities, modernize their environments, and identify security gaps and risks.
A bit of context, Movere is able to scan and inventory organizations rapidly, often within just a few hours. By scanning Actual Resource Consumption, users are identifying the servers they want to target, pulling the data points from the CPU, memory, and disk level, and mapping those back to Movere. Movere then presents the data in easily digestible visualizations that begin to bridge the gap between hundreds or thousands of data points and simple-to-understand visuals.
ARC for Cloud Migrations
ARC can help you use the information to start identifying what is the optimal size for an on-prem server when you’re looking to migrate it over to the cloud.
What makes Movere unique is it doesn’t matter how a server was originally provisioned on-prem. Movere looks at how much workload is actually being processed by the servers that are being targeted. So, if a server is only utilizing 10% of the allocated CPU on-prem, it may likely need a smaller Azure VM size. Movere also pulls disk utilization and is able to give calculated, precise, recommendations for premium or standard storage.
What does this mean?
Movere is responsive and calculated and takes the planning out of deciding which sizes to select when moving to the cloud. It ensures that the most accurate suggestion is made for that server, taking the guess work out of the process.
ARC for Optimization
Either before or after a cloud migration, there will likely be machines that are over allocated on resources. Movere is able to track usage over a period of time (we recommend at least 7 days) and come back with actual peaks and troughs of utilization levels for CPU, memory, and disk utilization. Movere is then able to identify servers that are overprovisioned and are excellent candidates for deprovisioning or reducing the amount of allocated capacities.
ARC for Ongoing Management
The most powerful thing about ARC is the ability to take moment-in-time snapshots and over-time actualizations and turn it into useful business intelligence that can manage costs on a regular basis, instead of whenever your performance is impacted or you specifically target a server. Movere makes collecting that data incredibly simple and turns the raw information into impactful business insight.
